VIMA Art Encounters in October & November
17 DEC 2024
In its priority to highlight the island’s vibrant and growing art scene, while casting a well-deserved spotlight on local artists and galleries, VIMA organised a series of visits to galleries and art spaces in its coastal home, Limassol, as well as in the capital, Nicosia.
Taking place over the course of two weeks in Fall 2024, VIMA Art Encounters were designed to foster a deeper connection between artists, galleries and the local audience. The latter had a special opportunity to visit well-established and emerging art spaces in Limassol and Nicosia, as well as to experience and reflect on some of the most eclectic pieces of art currently being produced in Cyprus.
Visitors, consisting primarily of VIMA’s friends and colleagues, familiarised themselves with a variety of artistic spaces, engaging with their founders and exhibitors, in addition to visiting institutions showcasing both temporary and permanent exhibitions. Spaces such as Thkio Ppalies, Korai Project Space, Sic. Contemporary Culture, NiMAC, The Home for Cooperation, The Cyprus Museum, Ygrasia, Eins Gallery, Pylon, Edit Gallery, and PSI Foundation, Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation, all welcomed VIMA’s community, which viewed some of the island’s finest contemporary art collections.
Internationally acclaimed in their plurality, the emerging and established artists who generously opened their studios, galleries and workspaces made room and time for dialogue, while warmly welcoming VIMA’s community: curators, interdisciplinary art practitioners and visual artists such as Valentinos Charalambous, Maria Loizidou, Stelios Kallinikou, Kyriaki Costa, Michalis Charalambous, Elina Ioannou, Koulla Savvidou, Loizos Kapsalis, Phanos Kyriacou, Haris Epaminonda, Andre Zivanari, Nurtane Karagil, Ioanna Louca, Evi Savvidou, Eleni Odysseos, Leontios Toumpouris, Marina Xenofontos, Elena Parpa, Demetra Ignatiou, Evelyn Anastasiou, Androula Kafa, Elena Savvidou, Ria Alexandrou, Marios Pavlou, Kalaqs et al. and others made VIMA Art Encounters even more meaningful thanks to their presence and enthusiasm.
