eins is a contemporary art gallery based in Limassol, Cyprus. Established in 2018, eins has an active role in shaping art discourse and promoting contemporary artists in the Cypriot and international scene. It works closely with artists, providing space and flexibility for the facilitation of compelling exhibitions and projects. As a gallery based in Cyprus, it is diligently involved in initiating conversations with audiences, encouraging the engagement of local artists and the public. eins was founded by its director, Tasos Stylianou, and his brother, Constantinos Stylianou.
At Vima, eins will present Leontios Toumpouris’ solo exhibition "Porous defence practices".
Expanding on his ongoing inquiry into the intersections between matter, corporeality and land, Toumpouris introduces a new series of sculptural wall pieces. These works refer to embodied knowledge, autobiography and the landscape, unfolding through multiple layers of representational possibility, manifested in objects, images and gestures.
Materials such as powder-coated metal, ink on laser-engraved stainless steel, cast aluminium, glazed ceramics, solder and rocks are assembled together by Toumpouris to compose a series of studies on autoethnography through memory and relationality, erroneously preparing for what is yet to come.
