Takeover is an artist-led project space for dynamic and experimental programming with and for local artists. Takeover's mission is to nurture experimentation, promote collaborations and encourage knowledge transmission through artist-given workshops. At Vima, Takeover will present the works of Lebanese artists Ieva Saudargaitė Douaihi, Mayssa Khoury, Nathalie Harb, Petra Serhal, Ramzi Mallat, and Tamara Kalo, each interrogating the ways in which history—both personal and collective—is preserved, erased, or reimagined. These histories are fragmented, nonlinear, and shaped by personal and collective experiences that do not follow a clear, continuous narrative. Instead, they are marked by gaps, disruptions, or cyclical patterns, often influenced by factors such as displacement, trauma, and shifting identities. Rather than relying on static documentation, they treat the present moment as an active site of memory-making. Co-curated with Jad Karam.
