MARTINA GRLIĆ
(HR)
Martina Grlić (b. 1982) is a Croatian artist whose practice explores political, economic, and social legacies through the deconstruction of memory politics, image interpretation, and gender perspectives. Her work draws on ethnography and autoethnography of everyday life and popular culture, often using found imagery as the starting point for her paintings. Grlić investigates the mechanisms of memory and reminiscence, with particular attention to the transformations that have taken place — and continue to unfold — in post-socialist societies.
She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, Croatia. Her work has been exhibited at institutions including the Museum of Mali Lošinj, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, Künstlerhaus in Vienna, Ningbo Museum of Art in China, and the National Museum in Gdańsk, Poland. She lives and works in Zagreb, Croatia.
